That's what RoboMed is seeing.

The Problem

Covid-19 is putting everyone at risk, especially the ones fighting on the front lines, such as the medical staff. Every day there are more and more cases of doctors and nurses who are getting the virus from patients they are desperately trying to save.

The solution

We present you RoboMed. A robot meant to aid in the interaction between the medical staff and the patients so they can continue being our heroes while we are theirs, thus saving the world from this nightmare.

To be able to do this RoboMed is autonomous and uses a mobile app to be monitored. It can store data about all the patients and their medicine in a database accessible in the app. The app also provides a 2 way video stream so the experience can be more friendly for everybody. It has more features, but the icing on the cake is an UV light used to disinfect the area around it.

Our work and what we need in order to continue

Pretty much everything you see was done over the weekend. From the work on the robot all the way to the mobile app and everything in between had to be made in 2 days.

In order to continue upgrading RoboMed to the desired state, we will require further funding, so we can implement it where it is needed the most: in hospitals.

B2B

We estimate the cost of this robot as: 1200 euros – materials, 300 euros – product warranty, 500 euros – manufacture, administration, 100 euros – authorizations, approvals, documents. Total 2000-2200 euros

From the beneficiary point of view: Considering that the robot can replace 2 medical assistants, hospitals are saving around 2500 euros. Expenses for minimal maintenance won't exceed 400 euros/month.

B2C

Our plan is to provide our robots through a renting service for the monthly price of 400 euros. With this amount of money we will be able to support further updates for the software and buy spare parts for the hardware. Our goal is to double each year the number of robots we provide to the hospitals.

RoboMed’s impact on the crisis and its value after it

RoboMed will drastically reduce the number of new cases of Covid-19 between the medical staff which will lead to a huge increase in their trust to continue their heroic duty, finally being able to cure more and more patients.

After the crisis RoboMed will help us fight against any new pandemic without putting any life at risk and it will prevent such a crisis from ever happening again.

I worked on the hardware side of the project and also made the algorithm used by the Lidar so RoboMed can guide itself to our desired location.
It wasn't my first time working with a LiDAR and surely won't be the last.

Tucudean
I worked on the software used to control RoboMed by creating another thread that receives commands sent by our mobile app and the overall structure of the pitches.
It was the first time I had to deal with concurrent programming in C++.

George Borsa
I worked on the back end(the connection to the database between apps) and front end(the mobile app).
It was the third time when I worked with databases and Flutter. Unfortunately the app doesn't have the best layouts at the moment. The entire project was completed in less than 48 hours.
