Help is one phone call away

It was the stories that were happening all around Europe and even beyond that inspired us, seeing people that, even under duress, came together to help those around them. Small gestures such as a check in phone call or delivering a bag of groceries made, for the most vulnerable, the difference between life and death.

We learned that, aside from what horror movies have always shown us, when disaster happens, instead of going every individual for himself, we come together and together is the only way in which we will manage to overcome this challenge.

We will build a voice robot at the end of a phone line that we know the categories most vulnerable - elderly, disabled, sick - are most responsive to, which can:

  • Identify emergencies and forward to public emergency health services
  • Check via e predefined script whether the caller shows any COVID-19 symptoms
  • Order food, basic necessity items or any critical medicine for sustaining life
  • Provide basic information about COVID and official information
  • Provide basic psychological support

The challenges we face are mostly related to:

  • Voluntary enrollment
  • Reluctance to use innovative solutions
  • Voice recognition algorithm tuning for dialects and accents
  • Supply chain integration

This service will release pressure on social services public providers, by:

  • Reducing the number of calls to emergency lines for FAQ
  • Providing aggregated information to authorities for decision making
  • Reducing the number of people gathering and queuing in front of shops of pharmacies
  • Supporting to maintain social distance
