Inspiration
We were taking part in the Fairground.TV creators program and were chosen to make an episode for their Robin Hood Reimagined theme. That pushed us to build a modern noir version of Robin Hood, mixing corruption, hacking, and a quiet man forced into becoming a vigilante.
What it does
A ruthless pharma CEO inflates the price of a life-saving drug overnight, leaving ordinary people unable to afford survival. This breaks something in Robin, a quiet office worker who turns into a hacker-vigilante determined to expose the scheme. As he leaks the truth and secretly redirects money back to the struggling families of Sherwood, an undercover agent Reese Noir is assigned to infiltrate his crew. But the deeper she moves into his world, the more she realizes the real threat may not be the vigilante she’s chasing, but the system she has sworn to serve.
How we built it
We wrote the script together with ChatGPT, created the visual world in Midjourney with a noir-style animation look, and animated the scenes using LumaLabs. The lip-sync was done manually almost like old Finnish dubbed animations while the voice-over was created with ElevenLabs. The soundtrack was composed with Suno to match the film’s noir atmosphere.
Challenges we ran into
Right in the middle of production, a new Midjourney version launched. We made the tough call not to redo the entire storyboard, which meant sacrificing some visual consistency. Manual lipsyncing turned out also to be, quite difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first project with Fairground.TV, and we were honestly nervous about how it would turn out. In the end, we managed to create a tight, engaging narration that captured the tone we wanted and proved to ourselves that we can deliver strong story-driven AI animation under pressure.
What we learned
We learned to stay flexible as AI tools evolve fast with every update. We figured out how to push these tools toward more cinematic scenes, how to pace a noir-style story, and how to blend detective elements with drama in a way that still feels coherent and emotional.
What's next for Robin Hood – Sherwood Shadows
We’d love to expand the world someday, explore the Phase Two teased at the end and possibly turn it into a longer mini-series or a few follow-up episodes. But for now, it will rest until the right moment comes.
