Inspiration
This project was inspired by real-world scenarios I know too well: the workplace bully whose passive-aggressive remarks make life awkward, or the local gossip who turns everyone’s personal business into daily entertainment. I wanted to take these relatable experiences and turn them into something humorous and cathartic — a way for people to laugh at the absurdity of everyday negativity.
What it does
Roasting Your HATERS | Animated is a short animated video series that dramatizes common “hater” scenarios and pairs them with witty, satisfying comebacks. The goal is simple: take the sting out of negativity and turn it into humor, all while giving viewers a sense of empowerment through laughter.
How I built it
The entire video was created using Sora 2’s text-to-video feature. By inputting scripts for each scenario, Sora 2 automatically generated the animations, including voice acting, lip sync, visual effects, and sound effects. This allowed me to focus on crafting the funniest, sharpest comebacks without worrying about the technical animation process.
Challenges I ran into
My main challenge was crafting scripts that felt witty and sharp without going overboard — the timing of comebacks is crucial for humor. Another subtle challenge was making sure the scenarios felt relatable to a wide audience while staying concise enough for a short animated format.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I successfully created a fully animated, voice-acted, and effects-rich video entirely through AI tools — something that would normally take a whole production team. The final product captures humor, timing, and personality in a way that resonates with viewers, all while being produced efficiently.
What I learned
I learned how powerful modern Sora 2 can be for storytelling, particularly for creating fully-realized animated content from text. I also honed my skills in crafting punchy dialogue and comedic timing specifically for short, animated scenarios.
What's next for Roasting Your HATERS | Animated
Future plans include expanding the series with more scenarios and comebacks, experimenting with different comedic styles, and potentially creating interactive episodes where viewers can pick their own “roasts” for different types of haters.
