Inspiration
When you're building a project, people often say, "That's a great idea!"
But encouragement isn't always useful. Before spending weeks building something, you need honest feedback that identifies weaknesses, challenges assumptions, and points out what could go wrong.
That's where Roast My Project came from.
We wanted to build an AI that doesn't simply agree with you. Instead, it acts like a critical reviewer who can tell you why your project might fail — while still giving you actionable suggestions to improve it.
The idea was simple:
Don't just ask AI if your idea is good. Ask AI why it might fail.
What it does
Roast My Project is an AI-powered project critic that analyzes project ideas and provides honest, constructive, and sometimes brutally funny feedback.
Users can submit their project idea and choose from 7 different AI personalities, each providing feedback from a different perspective:
- 🎓 Professor — academic and analytical
- 💻 Senior Dev — focused on technical feasibility
- 🔥 Savage — brutally honest and direct
- 🤖 Tech Bro — focused on technology and trends
- 👴 Boomer — skeptical and traditional
- 💰 Investor — focused on business value and scalability
- 😴 Sleepy — casual, funny, but still critical
The project also includes Battle Mode, where users can submit two project ideas and have the AI compare them head-to-head.
Instead of simply saying whether an idea is good or bad, the system highlights strengths, weaknesses, risks, and areas for improvement.
How we built it
