π RoamMate-The Smart Way to Plan Budget Trips
π Inspiration
The idea for RoamMate was born out of a common frustration: "I want to travel, but I donβt know if I can afford it."
Whether you're a student, a solo traveler, or someone planning a quick getaway, managing the travel budget can be tricky β especially with so many hidden costs.
We wanted to create something that makes travel accessible, affordable, and simple using the power of AI.
π οΈ How We Built It
Through Bolt.new
Core Features:
- Users input starting city, destination, and budget
- The app intelligently suggests:
- Transport options (road, rail, air)
- Hotel and food suggestions based on budget
- Smart itinerary categories: Premium, Moderate, Usual
- Budget checking logic auto-adjusts travel plans if your amount is low
Everything is built with the user in mind β no login required, minimal clicks, clean UI.
π‘ What We Learned
- How to build a project around user needs, not just tech.
- The importance of budget logic in real-world apps (and how tricky it can be!)
- How to prioritize features under tight deadlines
- Practical skills in deployment, UI testing, and user experience design
β οΈ Challenges We Faced
- Building a real-time budget evaluator β we had to balance cost categories for transport, stay, and food.
- Making a clean, responsive design under the short timeframe of a hackathon.
- Ensuring the flow is simple β no overload of options, yet enough variety.
- Deciding how to display advice when the budget is too low (e.g., offer tips or adjust options).
π Whatβs Next?
We plan to:
- Add location-based APIs for real transport and hotel data
- Include user profiles and saved trips
- Integrate AI chat-based travel suggestions
- Launch a mobile-first version
π Conclusion
RoamMate is more than a project β it's a vision to make travel planning smarter and inclusive.
Thanks to Bolt Worldwide Hackathon for giving us the platform to build something that could help real people take real trips β without breaking the bank.
