Inspiration

working towards making public transport as convenient & predictable as private.

What it does

allows users to check and report current crowd levels in NYC subway system, predict future crowd levels based on a ML algorithm we built.

How we built it

flask (python) for the backend, html, css, js for the front-end.

Challenges we ran into

Loading large datasets, reweighing machine learning algorithms to achieve higher accuracy levels for our prediction model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accurate model (r-squared score of 84%) on predicting crowds at stations in the future.

What we learned

learned how to build a bed with three chairs, as well as building creative, full-stack solutions using software.

What's next for roamio

adding coverage for all nyc subways & busses, other cities (phl, dc metro, atl)
