Hands free GPS navigation without all the noise and fuss.
We decided to create a backpack that allows the user to navigate to places without constantly looking at their phone. We would have a device that can vibrate in each strap of the bookbag. If the left strap vibrated then you would turn left and vice versa. Originally we wanted two microcontrollers with a bluetooth shield each that communicated with the phone and would vibrate accordingly but since the hardware wasn't available, we instead replaced the microcontrollers with our phones.
How our prototype works:
- Input your destination.
- Insert the phones into the straps.
- Walk towards the given cardinal direction (NWSE)
- As you keep walking, the respective strap will vibrate thus alerting the user to turn left or right.
