Inspiration

We noticed a common frustration: people want to learn new skills but often get overwhelmed or stuck trying to figure out what to learn, how to pace themselves, and where to start. Tutorials are everywhere, but roadmaps are missing. We asked: what if you could type what you want to learn and instantly get a personalized plan, designed around your schedule, style, and preferences?

That’s what led to Roadlee, a bold, AI-powered platform that helps anyone create personalized learning roadmaps, one click at a time.

What it does

  • Roadlee lets users:
  • Select any course/topic they want to learn
  • Set how many hours/day and total learning duration
  • Choose the type of resources they prefer (videos, articles, interactive platforms)
  • Then generate a fully personalized learning roadmap, broken down by weeks and tasks

Each roadmap is trackable, editable, and saved to the user’s dashboard. Roadlee also includes an AI tutor that allows users to “chat with their roadmap”, summarizing lessons, suggesting improvements, and even helping explain tough concepts when learners get stuck.

How we built it

We used:

  • Bolt for the entire build process (prompt orchestration, API handling, and UI)
  • Next.js for the frontend framework
  • Tailwind CSS for styling with a brutalist twist
  • Supabase for authentication and user data storage
  • Gemini to power the roadmap generator and AI chat assistant We created a stepper-based UI flow for generating learning plans and styled every section using brutalist design principles, bold typography, contrast blocks, and grid layouts.

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a stepper UI that felt minimal yet engaging without overwhelming the user
  • Balancing AI output quality across varied topics, from "Python" to "Interior Design"
  • Creating roadmap structures that were both practical and editable
  • Integrating the AI chat assistant in a way that felt supportive, not robotic

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Generated full AI roadmaps in under 15 seconds
  • Successfully built a “chat with your learning” experience that can summarize, explain, and improve lessons
  • Designed a consistent, modern brutalist UI that makes the platform stand out
  • Created an onboarding flow that turns any learner into an action-taker in 5 steps or less

What we learned

  • How to guide AI to build structured learning content based on vague inputs
  • How to create a design system that feels different but still keeps users focused
  • The importance of feedback loops, many features improved significantly after just one or two prompt rewrites
  • That people love to “see progress”, even just showing % complete drives engagement

What's next for Roadlee

  • Add gamification: badges, daily streaks, and roadmap milestones
  • Let users share roadmaps or study together in real-time
  • Add progress-aware AI: so users can say “I missed yesterday” and it updates the plan
  • Launch on mobile, with notifications for daily learning prompts
  • Add “Import a YouTube course” feature for auto-generating learning paths
