🚗## What it does Roadar is a mobile map app that provides users with the safest route to travel with. It takes data from TomTom maps to showcase all possible roadblocks and traffic jams. It's secondary feature provides users insight to any road blocks in the area. It aim is to provide pedestrians a safer route to their destination, over the fast route other maps give. Meanwhile, it shows drivers which roads to avoid when driving, so they can drive without the stress of being late.
🚘## How we built it Mockup using Figma, programmed with JS in React.
🔧## Challenges we ran into Oh where do I begin. The first and biggest challenge was figuring out how I was going to do everything on my own. As a fairly new "hackathoner", there was a lot to do with so little time and help. I first had to think of an idea, create a design plan and flow chart, program a demo, and then brand and create a video for my hack. With so much going on, I wasn't sure if I was going to finish in time. On top of that all, my initial plan was to create an IOS app, so I could demo on my phone, but as a Windows user, that wasn't going to happen. I originally tried using a MacOS emulator via VirtualBox to run Xcode, but once I got it working, it turns out Xcode on an emulator runs just as well as Valorant on res wifi (it doesn't work). So after a few hours wasted, I ran to react to try to get some code done.
🚘## Accomplishments that we're proud of I am happy to have brainstormed, planned and created a cohesive mockup on my own.
🚗## What we learned I learned how to use React Native and got practice with prototyping on Figma.
🏁## What's next for Roadar I hope to finish programming on React and have a fully operational app.
