Inspiration
Road trips are meant to be spontaneous and exciting. Our goal is to help people to find exciting new places along the way that they may have not considered without our application.
What it does
Road-Trip Companion generates a road-trip map given a starting and ending location. With this map comes a list of potential stops along the way.
How we built it
We built our web application using React.js as our framework along with MUI to help style our components. We implemented a couple of different API's to get our data points and maps working. We used several different MapBox API's and the OpenTripMap API.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some issues with getting our seperate React components to communicate with eachother effectively. We also spent a lot of time working on the API requests.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're pleased with our ability to create a website in a weekend while working in areas outside of our comfort zones.
What we learned
We each learned how to work more effectively as a team and gained some technical skills such as React and API usage.
