Road to SG

Project Introduction

Our project Road to SG is a web application (wireframe prototype) that was designed with the intention of simplifying the process of moving to Singapore, allowing those new to SG have an easier time planning and preparing their move to SG.

Problem Statement

The main source of our inspiration stems from our desire to make a change to the intimidating process of moving to Singapore. Many abroad may feel the overwhelming and segregated information available to research, contributing to unsureness of information credibility and a potentially less than satisfactory user journey. This prompted the creation of a web application that could potentially mitigate the aforementioned issues and contribute to a more satisfactory user journey.

What it does

The main features of Road to SG includes a one-stop knowledge bank by aggregating credible information that are essential to the process of moving to Singapore into the application. Secondly, it features a step-by-step application process that consists of vital procedures necessary to anyone planning to move to Singapore. This includes work visa, housing and banking applications.

Design Choices

The wireframe prototype was built using Figma to visualize design concepts, create prototypes easily and iterate quickly. When designing the interface of this web application, the main design concepts utilized were simplicity and intuitive layouts to load user cognitive load, and vibrant accent colours to catch users' attention.

Challenges

We ran into many challenges along the way of the hackathon as many of us were not familiar with the necessary steps and procedures for those abroad to move to Singapore. As such, more research was needed to be done and more effort was needed to emphasize with our target audience to construct a persona that addresses their pain points in their user journey.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are immensely contented to be able to be part of this journey and we're proud of what we were able to achieve in a short span of 48 hours.

What we learned

We learnt so much along the way, particularly on the situation of overwhelming and segregated information when it comes to researching for steps to move to Singapore as well as the importance of design thinking and the concept of "fail quickly" in coming up with a solution that addresses the pain points of the user

What's next for Road to SG

We hope that this application will be able to simplify the lives of many planning to move to Singapore and the next step to Road to SG is coming up with a functional solution.
