THIS GAME IS OPTIMIZED FOR MOBILE PHONE PLAY!d
🎮 About the Game
Road Rage: Head On is a fast-paced, sci-fi-inspired mobile-only endless runner. Drawing heavy influence from Blade Runner and Cyberpunk 2077, this game throws you headfirst into a neon-soaked, high-stakes simulation where survival depends on your reflexes, strategy, and aggression.
🚀 Core Gameplay
- Endless runner simulation set in a cyberpunk world
- Weaponized vehicles with two core weapon systems
- Oncoming traffic hazards to dodge, destroy, or suffer the consequences
- Global leaderboard competition for high scores
Your mission is simple: dodge, weave, and blast your way through incoming traffic without colliding. Every head-on impact shaves off 10 points of your health. Once your health hits zero—game over.
Despite being single-player, the leaderboards create a constant sense of competition. Fast-paced action, aggressive vehicles, and chaotic visuals will keep your adrenaline pumping and your nerves on edge.
🧭 Game Flow
- Start on a balcony outside a neon-lit garage
- Enter the garage and step into the green rotating cylinder to trigger vehicle cutscenes
- Vehicle moves out, you’re dropped into a high-speed tunnel
- Countdown begins...
- Game starts. Survive. Dominate. Repeat.
💥 Weapons
You have two tools to fight back:
Machine Guns Continuous fire when the fire button is held down.
EMP Pulse Use this when in a tight spot. Disables incoming threats. ⚠️ 30-second cooldown Mapped to the center input button.
📊 Scoring System
Your score is based on:
- Distance traveled
- Cars destroyed
- Vehicles dodged
Your score updates in real-time at the bottom of the screen, keeping the intensity high and your goals clear.
🧱 Development Journey
Before joining this contest, I had very little experience with TypeScript. There are no codeblocks in the entire game. Originally developed as a VR concept, I made the decision to rebuild the entire game from scratch for mobile.
Learning TypeScript on the fly wasn’t easy—I leaned heavily on community resources like Wafflecopter’s Codeblock-to-TypeScript converter and Tellous’ Horizon Worlds snippets. It was the most challenging project I’ve ever taken on, but I’m extremely proud of the result and grateful for what I’ve learned.
🛣️ Roadmap
Future plans include:
- ✅ Custom UI and HUD elements
- ✅ Multiplayer Support
- ✅ Boss fights and Complex enemy patterns
- ✅ Complex road hazards and level diversity
- ✅ Turning mechanics, tunnel junctions, and cornering
- ✅ A battle pass-style progression system
- ✅ Multiple weapon upgrades and unlocks
- ✅ Customizable vehicles and skins
- ✅ In-game purchases for cosmetics and gameplay enhancements
🧪 Genre Innovation
I’ve noticed that endless runners are rare in Horizon Worlds. With Road Rage: Head On, I aim to pioneer this underused genre in a way that is thrilling, competitive, and visually unforgettable.
🙏 Final Thoughts
This game was built with heart, determination, and countless hours of trial and error. I sincerely hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed building it.
