RoadGuard AI (RCMS) is an AI-powered Road Care & Maintenance System designed to automate road hazard detection, civic reporting, and government escalation. Built for modern urban infrastructure management, the platform bridges the gap between public citizen reporting and municipal repair teams.

Citizens can report road hazards—such as potholes and surface cracks—by uploading geotagged images and descriptions through a responsive React web interface featuring interactive Leaflet maps. The platform leverages computer vision (YOLOv8 & OpenCV) via a dedicated Python AI microservice to automatically inspect uploaded media, evaluate damage severity, and assign deterministic priority scores.

On the backend, a Spring Boot 3 microservices architecture handles authentication, user roles, geospatial report tracking, and automated email/SMS alerts. High-severity incidents are automatically escalated to government portals (such as the Tamil Nadu Road Safety Portal) for rapid civic intervention and dispatch.

With real-time status tracking, deterministic severity scoring, and administrative analytics dashboards, RCMS transforms reactive road maintenance into a proactive, data-driven ecosystem—ensuring safer transit and faster repair turnarounds.
