Inspiration
The idea was born from real-life frustrations with coordinating group road trips—managing multiple locations, keeping track of everyone’s position, and staying socially connected along the way. I envisioned an app that merges Waze's real-time navigation with Instagram’s social interaction, making travel with friends more seamless, fun, and connected.
What it does
This mobile-first web app blends the social interaction of Instagram with the real-time navigation of Waze—designed for convoy travel and group road trips. Users can create or join convoy groups, share live locations, interact via group chat, and post real-time updates.exciting features the app works as a racing app too where users can choose a private space to race .you are able to create your private route by driving thru and creating your route and racing from your start to end location.
How we built it
Using Bolt.new, I began by defining core workflows: user authentication, convoy creation, live location sharing, and group chat. I leveraged APIs like Google Maps for routing and Supabase for backend services. The UI was designed with a mobile-first approach, using Bolt’s visual editor to create a bottom navigation layout with tabs for Map View, Groups, Messages, and Profile. Every component was tested to ensure full functionality—no placeholders, no mock data.
Challenges we ran into
Bolt.new, while powerful, had limitations in low-latency streaming and complex real-time syncing for multiple users. Integrating Google Maps APIs required manual configurations and workarounds. Ensuring performance and responsiveness on mobile browsers was another challenge that needed careful layout optimization.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built a production-ready app from concept using just prompt-driven tools. Achieved seamless multi-user live tracking and real-time interaction without writing code. Designed a UI/UX that feels intuitive and mobile-native despite being a web app. Overcame platform limitations (e.g., custom map logic and turn by turn port tilting) through creative API configurations. Created a solid foundation to pitch the app to investors, including a working prototype.
What we learned
Building this app taught me how powerful no-code platforms like Bolt.new can be in translating complex, multi-feature concepts into working web applications. I deepened my understanding of real-time location tracking, social UX design, and how to structure apps with modular logic without traditional code.
What's next for Convoy Connect
Adding arrival table to measure time taken for arrival and performance gauging logics. Getting an investor to build the full fledged app. Adding live streaming capabilities.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
in create group you can choose between public routes for going on a public road trip or creating your private route by driving/riding thru the route and travel on that route . so these feature enables 4x4 jungle tracking or private route travelling in a private space or even creating your own scenic route on public roads to travel. users are also allowed to race and the app ranks users by whom reaches destination in group arrival status . i have also included disclaimer in landing page to race responsibly.
