RKO House

Inspiration

RKO House took inspiration from the very struggles that our relatives and friends had encountered upon trying to get back to our beloved Homeland, Singapore. To alleviate future troubles and help our fellow friends seamlessly and happily integrate back into Singapore Society, RKO House had gone to great extents to create this amazing App!

What it does

The RKO House App does many and more than you can ever imagine! Just to name a few of our key features, we integrated and aimed to solve housing issues that one may encounter when come back to Singapore! What we aim to create is not just an App, but a COMMUNITY that helps fellow friends integrate and forge a strong bond without feeling left out when re-entering our lovely island, Singapore.

How we built it

We went around asking our relatives that had similar experiences when moving back to Singapore after their overseas work contract. In fact our personas are inspired from our relatives as well. With this information, we then pulled together a timeline, and features that would help assist their move back to Singapore. We created a wireframe with Figma, to envision the Userflow, then proceeded to create a prototype of it using VueJS.

Challenges we ran into

Due to this current trying times of the pandemic and the short time frame for the submission, RKO House had to go ALL OUT, burning the midnight oil and making numerous calls and messages to everyone we could think of to get relevant and useful data to aid the process of creating our special App. RKO House would have liked to have been able to reach out to more people and get more data and experimentation prior to creating the App, but the lack of time made it hard for us to do so.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the project given the time constraint, juggling various commitments, splitting the work according to our strengths, and most importantly, we had fun and had a good time.

What we learned

We learnt how the process from the start (ideation) all the way to the creation of our brainchil (RKO House. It was not an easy journey but it showed us that together nothing is impossible. We will be preparing for the finals next week. See yall there!

What's next for RKO House

Watch out. Watch out! WATCH OUT! RKO House is determined to SMASH the competition for the next few upcoming Hackathons as well! All the competitors can just leave early and not waste their time!
