Inspiration
Traditional invitation platforms were charging us $36.99 for every child's birthday party invites. With three kids, those costs added up quickly.
Before paying again, I realized I could build something simpler—not just for our family, but for thousands of other parents who are tired of paying excessive fees for something as basic as sending invitations by text and email. Plus, existing paid services have ads that show to guests who RSVP - As a parent I have gone through that experience many times and that is completely unnecessary.
So I built Rizz Invites: a simple, mobile-friendly way to send digital invitations without clunky design tools. You can upload your own invitation, send it directly from your phone, collect RSVPs, and keep everything in one place. And let’s be honest—more and more people are already creating their invitations with AI, and soon almost everyone will be.
Most importantly, there are zero subscriptions. As a parent of three, I’m tired of signing up for a one-time service only to see another recurring charge appear on my credit card month after month.
That’s how Rizz Invites was born.
What it does
Sends invites to friends and family via text or email. There is also a way to invite the whole class by sharing a single link with the teacher who shares it with the class (common way for daycares and schools) and parents RSVP if their kids can attend.
How we built it
With the initial help to launch of one engineer and a lot, I mean, a lot of Codex vibecoding by a non-technical product manager.
Challenges we ran into
Not having a designer on the team. Figma Make solved it for us although it took long time to get it done with Figma make and then "explain" it to Codex via vibe coding. It worked out though.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
1,400 new users 6,000 emials sent 5,100 SMS sent 200 parties planned 876 confirmed RSVPs
What we learned
- "Telephony" companies are ripe for disruption (terrible UI, longs waits, unclear industry standards)
- Government SMS laws are rigid and do not fit every business model (and yet I get a ton of spam SMS and calls on my pesonal AT&T phone number)
- Lots of people like to plan their events in advance (a shock to me who does everything last minute 🫠)
What's next for Rizz Invites
