RiskMapper

Inspiration

During emergencies, timely and accurate risk assessment can save lives. We wanted to create a tool that helps users quickly understand the severity of emergency events around them by leveraging AI and geospatial data.

What it does

Assess the risk levels of various emergency events within your location

How we built it

Frontend we used React + JavaScript, Backend we used Python with FastAPI, Gemini, and Google Maps API

Challenges we ran into

Integrating the frontend and the backend was harder than expected. We also experienced difficulty with prompt engineering Gemini to give us structured JSON output

UI design and being able to leverage a large number of APIs

What's next for RiskMapper

In continuing this project we want to implement real time emergency event processing. If we had more time we would also be able to make the application more accurate.
