Inspiration
We watched brands get cancelled overnight over a single misplaced claim or forgotten disclaimer. Not because they were malicious—but because they were careless. Meanwhile, legal review processes were slow, async, and created bottlenecks in design workflows. We wanted to shift compliance left: catch risk before it ships, not after a crisis erupts.
What it does
RiskLint is a real‑time compliance scanner for marketing and design content. Drop your draft into Adobe Express, hit scan, and instantly see risky claims, missing disclaimers, and regulatory red flags—with exact evidence and suggested fixes in your language. It turns compliance from a post‑launch worry into a design‑time safeguard.
How we built it
We built an Adobe Express add‑on that extracts document text and feeds it to an AI compliance engine powered by Google Gemini. The backend applies both intelligent AI analysis and deterministic rule checks to catch high‑risk patterns (guaranteed returns, unsubstantiated claims, safety gaps). Every issue is grounded in actual content, and all suggested fixes are localized to the detected language.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing speed vs. accuracy was critical—compliance can't slow down design. We also had to ensure every AI‑flagged issue was grounded in the actual text, not hallucinated. Rate‑limiting on external APIs and maintaining evidence trails across multiple languages added complexity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We shipped a working prototype that integrates seamlessly into the Adobe Express workflow. Evidence grounding ensures no false alarms. Multi‑language support means global teams get localized compliance—a first in this space. And the deterministic layer catches high‑risk patterns that generic AI might miss.
What we learned
Compliance isn't one‑size‑fits‑all: regional regulations, industries, and audience contexts all matter. We learned that designers and legal teams speak different languages—so the tool needs to translate risk into actionable insights, not legalese.
What's next for RiskLint
Batch scanning for multi‑document campaigns, integrations with approval workflows, custom rule libraries per industry, and expanded region coverage (LATAM, APAC). We also want to add collaboration features so legal and design teams can iterate together in real time—closing the gap that currently slows launches.
