Inspiration
We were inspired by the various types of social injustice which exist in the world, specifically education. We are aware that there are many people who experience not having the same opportunities in education as others, so we wanted to create an organization that educates others on this and also how this can be helped, such as by making donations to organizations that specialize in social justice.
What it does
Our website empowers and enriches individuals by spreading awareness about social inequalities in education. Through accessible resources and meaningful storytelling, we strive to inspire change, promote equity, and foster a world where every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background.
How we built it
We built Rise for Change using HTML and CSS in Android Studio. We originally planned out our ideas for this website on a Google Doc and by creating a wireframe which had the basic outline for the website.
Challenges we ran into
We found ourselves being crunched for time because of the many aspects in our website that all require their own set of code. We were also not able to complete the buttons on our "Timeline" page because of this. Additionally, it took a while for us to actually start coding because of complications with the website we were using to code and there not being many alternatives.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of being able to divide and conquer efficiently in order to create our final product of Rise for Change. We are also proud of how we were able to incorporate complex elements into our website which resulted in it having visual appeal and functionality.
What we learned
We learned that it is important to be able to problem solve when the initial plan doesn't work out. It is also important to work together when creating a large project because it is not possible otherwise.
What's next for Rise for Change
In the future, Rise for Change will transition from being a website to being an app, making it more accessible to users. It will also include various features, such as maps which will provide information on education regarding social justice around the world.
