Inspiration

Wellness apps often expect people to know which workout to choose and how to adjust it when they have low energy, limited time, or different movement needs. As the solo founder of Rise, I wanted to make starting feel less overwhelming.

Groovin was inspired by a simple question: What if someone could say, “I have three minutes and my energy is low,” and be guided toward a comfortable way to move? Sunrise Quest turns that conversation into a small, encouraging wellness experience with Peachy.

What it does

Groovin by Rise App: Sunrise Quest is a simulated Alexa+-style wellness experience. Peachy asks about available time, energy, and movement preferences before offering Standard, Low-Impact, or Seated mode.

After the user explicitly starts, the experience launches a three-minute sunrise adventure with four movement stages: reaching upward, side-stepping or a seated alternative, reaching forward, and a gentle bend or seated arm raise. Users can pause, resume, change modes, skip movements, or end the session.

Completed stages earn provisional demo Rise Points, with a maximum of 120 per session. All modes offer equal reward opportunities. Points acknowledge completed guided time; movements and repetitions are not detected or verified.

Users can review their session summary and save the result in their browser. These demo points do not increase their actual Rise account balance.

How we built it

I built the standalone simulation using HTML, CSS, JavaScript modules, and a small Node.js server. Separate modules manage the conversation, timer, movement stages, accessibility modes, scoring, and browser-local saving.

The conversation uses deterministic typed commands and tapped choices. It simulates an Alexa+-style interaction without a live Alexa connection, microphone, or runtime AI model.

The visual environment combines Rise’s orange and purple branding with Peachy and a sunrise mountain setting. ChatGPT/Codex supported coding, debugging, testing, and documentation. OpenAI image generation supported the environment and mascot artwork, while I directed the product experience and supplied the brand logos.

I also integrated the Groovin entry and workout page into a separate Base44 test branch using React and React Router. Groovin appears below Quick Activity Check-In, with visible Activity and Home return buttons. Results remain browser-local; authenticated workout history and real account rewards are future work. The production Rise app remains unchanged.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was making the conversation lead to predictable actions. Peachy’s questions and commands needed to select a movement mode, launch the workout only after confirmation, and control the session without losing progress.

Another challenge was keeping the prototype focused. I prioritized one complete three-minute experience with three movement modes, reliable controls, clear scoring, and local saving.

Testing also revealed improvements needed in Peachy’s placement, chat readability, keyboard navigation, and return controls. Limited Base44 credits encouraged me to build the standalone experience first before completing the frontend integration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of turning Rise’s broad wellness mission into one focused experience that connects conversation, movement, visual storytelling, and encouragement.

Standard, Low-Impact, and Seated modes are equally valid ways to participate, with equal reward opportunities. Users retain control through pause, mode changes, skips, and early exit.

The complete conversation-to-workout-to-save flow works, with automated logic and browser checks covering timing, scoring, narrow layouts, keyboard controls, and saved-result recovery.

As a solo founder, I combined product strategy, visual direction, user experience, AI-assisted development, testing, and storytelling to bring Groovin to life.

What we learned

I learned that a useful conversational experience needs clear questions and dependable actions. Users should understand when the workout starts, when it is paused, and what their result means.

I also learned that accessible alternatives, clear instructions, and flexible controls help people participate with more confidence.

Building with AI taught me to review generated code, test its behavior, and describe the limits of a prototype honestly. A small, complete journey can communicate an idea more effectively than a large collection of unfinished features.

What's next for Groovin by Rise App

The next step is further device and usability testing, followed by carefully connecting Groovin to Rise’s authenticated activity history and rewards system. Real account rewards would require backend validation and protection against duplicate awards.

I also plan to explore a live Alexa+ integration through an Agent Skill or MCP server. Additional environments, personalization, and larger-screen experiences are longer-term possibilities beyond the current prototype.

The vision is to make movement feel approachable and encouraging, with Peachy helping users take one small step at their own pace.
