Inspiration

Sending crypto is instant, but "cashing out" is still slow and expensive for the unbanked. We wanted to solve the Last-Mile problem by turning digital assets into local food and supplies.

What it does

RippleRemit is the "Uber for Cash," a P2P network where local shop owners act as "Human ATMs," swapping physical cash for RLUSD stablecoins via a mobile app.

How we built it

We utilized XRPL for instant settlement, RLUSD to eliminate price volatility, and Atomic Escrows to ensure funds are only released when the receiver scans a QR code.

Challenges we ran into

Securing physical transactions without banks. We solved this by using Decentralized Identity (DID) and reputation scores to vet users and build trust within the community.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We designed a system that slashes remittance fees from 10% to under 3%, meeting UN SDG targets and creating a new gig economy for local liquidity providers.

What we learned

That blockchain’s true value isn't just speed—it’s the ability to provide financial dignity to the 1.7 billion unbanked people who have been ignored by traditional banks.

What's next for RippleRemit

Launching pilot programs in the ASEAN and expanding our DID system to offer micro-loans based on transaction history.
