Inspiration

Social media has become predictable—likes, follows, and endless scrolling with little at stake. We wanted to create a platform where every interaction matters, competition feels real, and users keep coming back for the thrill. Ripit transforms social media into a survival game.

What it does

Ripit is a competitive social platform where every profile starts with three hearts. Community votes determine whether a profile survives or loses hearts. Lose all three hearts, and the account is eliminated from the game. Every post, rivalry, and interaction has meaningful consequences.

How we built it

We designed Ripit around a survival-based reputation system, combining social networking, competitive mechanics, and personalized profiles. The platform blends familiar social features with game mechanics to create a unique, high-stakes user experience.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing competition with fairness was our biggest challenge. We had to design a system that rewards engagement while preventing abuse, ensuring the gameplay remains exciting without compromising the user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a completely different take on social media. Ripit turns scrolling into competition, giving every interaction purpose and making user reputation something that must be earned and defended.

What we learned

We learned that adding meaningful stakes to social interactions dramatically changes user behavior. Building engaging game mechanics requires balancing excitement, fairness, and long-term sustainability.

What's next for Ripit

Next, we plan to launch multiplayer events, tournaments, profile progression, new survival mechanics, creator rewards, and additional personalization features. Our vision is to make Ripit the world's first truly competitive social network, where every profile has something to lose.
