Inspiration
As someone familiar with Go High Level (GHL), I saw how its powerful features overwhelm agency owners and their clients (sub accounts). Small business clients, in particular, struggle with GHL’s complex interface just to manage reviews. Inspired to simplify this, Ripe Reviews offers a clean, intuitive app tailored for GHL agency sub-account clients, making review management across platforms like Google Maps and Yelp effortless and approachable.
What it does
Ripe Reviews is a sleek, mobile-first app designed for GHL agency clients (sub-account users) to manage and get reviews on platforms like Google Maps, Apple Maps, Yelp, Zillow, TrustPilot, and Facebook. Its clean UI strips away GHL’s complexity, focusing solely on review management. By integrating with GHL via API and sub-account ID, it pulls contact records, tags, opportunity status, review status, and reporting stats, empowering clients to boost their local credibility without navigating GHL’s overwhelming, clunky interface.
How I built it
I developed Ripe Reviews using bolt.net 100%! I played with Flutter for a polished, cross-platform mobile app on iOS and Android but ended up just going back to bolt for UI finalizations. The app integrates seamlessly with GHL’s API, leveraging sub-account IDs to fetch contacts and all records associated. I deployed the app to supabase, stackblitz, github, and netlify. Most if not all UI was first hand drawn on notebook paper pages by screen to orient the UI elements, content, headers, navs, etc.
Challenges I ran into
- GHL API Integration: Connecting to GHL’s API to pull sub-account data (contacts, opportunities, and reviews) required navigating complex documentation and handling rate limits, which we solved with efficient API wrappers.
- Simplifying Complexity: Distilling GHL’s robust feature set into a focused, review-only UI without losing functionality was tough. We iterated based on client feedback to ensure simplicity.
- User Onboarding: Ensuring non-technical clients could easily understand the app required multiple UI redesigns and streamlined workflows.
- Hackathon Time Crunch: Building a fully functional prototype with seamless GHL integration under tight deadlines forced us to prioritize core review management features.
Accomplishments I am proud of
- Created a clean, intuitive app that GHL agency clients love, based on beta feedback, for managing reviews without GHL’s clutter.
- Achieved seamless GHL API integration, pulling real-time contact, opportunity, and review data for sub-accounts.
- Delivered a scalable, mobile-first solution that simplifies review management across six major platforms.
- Built a working prototype within the hackathon timeframe, ready for real-world GHL agency use.
What I learned
- User-Centric Design: Feedback from GHL agency clients taught us how to prioritize simplicity for non-technical users while retaining powerful functionality.
- API Navigation: Working with GHL’s complex API deepened our skills in handling dynamic data and ensuring reliable integrations.
- Feature Focus: Stripping away unnecessary features to focus on reviews showed us the value of targeted solutions.
- Collaboration Under Pressure: Rapid development honed our ability to align on priorities and deliver under tight constraints.
What's next for Ripe Reviews
- Secure Investment: Pitch the prototype to investors to fund a dedicated team for development, marketing, and scaling.
- Build a Team: Assemble a skilled team of developers, designers, and marketers to refine and expand Ripe Reviews.
- Marketing & Agency Partnerships: Launch targeted marketing campaigns and partner with GHL agencies to onboard their clients, driving adoption.
- User Feedback Iteration: Collect voice-of-the-user feedback to iterate and release improved versions, ensuring the app meets evolving client needs.
- Broader Platform Support: Integrate with additional review platforms like TripAdvisor or Angi to expand utility.
- Enhanced Reporting: Add customizable dashboards for clients to track review performance metrics.
- Web App Expansion: Develop a web version to complement the mobile app, increasing accessibility for GHL clients.
