Inspiration
When we heard about the corona virus last week, we thought to us that we had to do something! Our friend then pointed us to the federal government's hackathon. There we looked at the issues and challenges. Since we are something like experts in social distancing, of course, this subject area immediately appealed to us. So we wanted to use this unique opportunity to deepen our programming skills, broaden human horizons and most of all: Help people and humanity.
What it does
Rindviech-Control is an app like no other! With its unique features it aims to help you to avoid people. The app has an alarm that goes off, if you get too close to other people. Plus you can see the "Dangerzones"(locations where many people gather) on the apps built in map. To not get an alert at home you can customize "safezones", which the alarm-system will ignore.
How we built it
We used state of the art technology, to achieve the best results. For the backend we used Jakarta and Quarkus and for the frontend we implemented the Vue-based framework Quasar with html and javascript. To compile the app we used Cordova.
Callenges we ran into
The last two days were a single and complete struggle, as none of us knew anything about the frameworks and in some cases the languages we used. On top of that we couldn't be bothered to actually read into the frameworks so we kind of just tried stuff out and it either worked or not.
Accomplishments
We revolutionized the way javascript gets implemented in html-code AND that anything works at all is a huge achievement.
What we learnt
2 days aren't enough to learn and master completely new frameworks and in some cases even languages.
Whats next for Rindviech-Control
In the near future We still have some features we have to yet implement, these include a diagramm to view the traffic at certain locations at the current time. Another one is a graphic that shows you in how much danger you are.
In the future that is a farther away we aim to deploy the app throughout the whole world to minimize the risk and prevent people from infecting themselves
