Riftmax was the first multiplayer socialization application for Virtual Reality. We created a platform where users can congregate to watch movies, youtube videos, sing karaoke, and hang out together. We integrated the available technology at the time to provide near 1:1 hand tracking (Razor Hydras) and IK.
We hosted karaoke nights every Thursday which ran for hours on end, letting users sing in real time to karaoke youtube videos. We also hosted a weekly talk show "Virtually Incorrect w/ Gunter", and even a premiere of showing of the film “Roadside” along with a Question and Answer session with the director. All with '4D' effects.
Development for this project has been discontinued but will always be known as the start to social VR.
