Inspiration

I was inspired to build Ridohealth Care after recognizing the gaps in emergency transportation for patients. Timely access to care is crucial, and many patients face delays due to inefficient transport coordination. I wanted to create a solution that connects hospitals with ride services, offering patients choice while simplifying billing for healthcare providers.

What it does

RidoHealth is a mobile platform designed to address the challenges faced by Africa's emergency healthcare systems, with Nigeria as the initial focus. It aims to connect users in need of urgent medical attention with verified hospitals and emergency services, improving response times through real-time communication, GPS-enabled navigation, and public-private partnerships. The platform integrates AI assistance and a charity feature to provide holistic emergency care, ensuring hospitals can accept patients based on real-time availability.

How we built it

Research: I conducted interviews with healthcare providers and patients to understand their needs. Design & Prototyping: I created simple, user-friendly designs using React Native for mobile and Node.js for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Complex Integrations: Different ride services required custom APIs. Data Security: Ensuring HIPAA compliance added complexity. Hospital Adoption: Convincing hospitals to switch to a new system took time and effort.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

Balancing Simplicity with Functionality: Designing an app that’s easy for patients to use while offering robust tools for hospitals was challenging. We had to ensure the interface was simple and intuitive, without compromising on the features hospitals needed for tracking rides and managing billing.

The Importance of Seamless Integration: Integrating ride services with hospital systems was a complex task. It required working with different APIs, ensuring real-time data syncing, and making sure hospitals’ billing systems could seamlessly incorporate ride costs.

Data Security & Compliance: Ensuring patient data remained secure and compliant with regulations like HIPAA was a top priority. We had to implement strong encryption and follow strict privacy protocols to protect sensitive health information.

Real-Time Operations Matter: Real-time tracking of rides and timely communication between hospitals, patients, and drivers is critical. Any delay in updating ride status or miscommunication can cause frustration for patients and disrupt hospital workflows.

What's next for Rido Health

Finalizing Development: We are in the final stages of development, refining the app’s features and ensuring all core functionalities—ride booking, hospital integration, payment processing, and real-time tracking—are working seamlessly.

Beta Testing: Our next step is to roll out a closed beta with select healthcare providers and patients. This will help us gather feedback, identify bugs, and make adjustments before the full public launch.

Building Partnerships: We’re working on establishing partnerships with hospitals, healthcare systems, and ride service providers to ensure we have reliable transport options available for patients once the app goes live.

Regulatory Compliance: Finalizing the app’s security features to ensure HIPAA compliance and data protection for patient information is a top priority. We’ll conduct thorough security audits to meet healthcare industry standards.

Marketing and Outreach: We are developing a marketing strategy to introduce the app to both healthcare professionals and potential users. This will involve outreach to hospitals, insurance companies, and patient advocacy groups to build awareness.

User Education and Training: We plan to create training materials, including video tutorials and documentation, to ensure that both healthcare providers and patients understand how to use the app effectively.

First Phase Launch: After completing beta testing and refining the app, we’ll launch in a limited region, likely starting with a few hospitals and transportation services, before expanding to a broader market.
