Inspiration
We were inspired by Uber, an online ride service app.
What it does
It allows users to see how much it would cost them to ride in an Uber with the different-sized Sharks. Users can set their origin and destination and use those to calculate the cost and time to get there.
How we built it
We built it using Google APIs like React Native Maps and Markers. We used the framework Expo, a wrapper for React Native. We used Tailwind CSS and React Native Elements to create the UI components. Lastly, we used React Hooks and React-Redux for state management.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges with Redux as we had never used it before. We also had many problems with the API Key used by the React Native Maps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating the mobile app that is Ride Shark.
What we learned
We learned about Tailwind CSS, React-Redux, and React Native Maps.
What's next for Ride Shark
We would add more delivery systems like Food Delivery, Medicine Delivery, and also Daycare Pickup systems. We would also add Firebase's Authentication and Storage Systems to allow the user to create its own Favorite Locations instead of it being hard-coded. Lastly, We would add payment systems like PayPal to process payment systems, with this we could add driver accounts and User accounts to allow drivers to actually drive them.
