Inspiration
I saw the Rich Laughing meme on TikTok and thought, “Why stop at watching it? Let’s make it a skill.” That’s how RichLaughify came to life—because everyone deserves to laugh like they own a superyacht.
What it does
RichLaughify uses our proprietary AI, Opulaugh™, to analyze your laugh and train it against a library of rich-people laughs. Whether you’re aiming for “The Yacht Giggle” or “The Private Jet Chuckle,” the app helps you sound like you’ve just inherited a tech empire.
How we built it
- Website: Built in ReactJS with Tailwind, because simple and sleek felt appropriate.
- App: Learned React Native during this hackathon (good timing), then used Tailwind and Supabase to make it functional.
- Video: Created with Camtasia and Flexclip—because rich laughs deserve decent production value.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up user authentication with Supabase in React Native was an experience. Let’s just say it took longer than expected, but now I know my way around it. Mostly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I managed to build a semi functional mobile app, a web app, and promo video in the span of the hackathon. Also, user authentication works, which feels like an accomplishment worth celebrating—even if it’s a modest celebration, like a small plate of hors d'oeuvres.
What we learned
With the right tools, it’s entirely possible to create something ridiculous but functional and pitch-worthy. If I could sell this to Elon Musk, that would be the cherry on top.
What's next for RichLaughify
I plan to pitch this to Jack Ma, Elon Musk, and Biff Jezos (from the commercial). If they aren’t interested, I’ll assume they’re already using Opulaugh™.
