Inspiration
As freshmen, our team had a lot of adjustments to make in College Station; however, the most unfamiliar one was handling our own finances. We struggled with having almost complete independence while making financial decisions for the first time. We decided to help our fellow Aggies make smart financial decisions so they understand how to set themselves up for financial success.
What it does
Our website is a helpful tool that helps Aggies learn about finances including
- Budgeting
- The 50 30 20 Rule
- Saving
- Investing
How we built it
We build our website using VS Code and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges that our team faced was
- having two of three members who had never attended a hackathon before having to learn about what a hackathon is and how it works
- creating a budgeting calculator so that the website would perform calculations while printing properly with the formatting we wanted
- our team had technical difficulties with screen recording, so we had to adjust
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team created a budgeting calculator that allowed Aggies to simply enter in their data while the website performed the calculation, but we were able to create a error message if invalid data is inputted
What we learned
Our team primarily worked with HTML so we were able to learn about using HTML and creating a website.
What's next for Rich Rev
Rich Rev hopes to accomplish two main goals
- Compile a list of scholarships for Aggies to apply to
- In order to make our website more holistic, we hope to include a reference to TAMU resources.
