Inspiration
The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to global waste and carbon emissions. Many of us have closets full of clothes we no longer wear — not because they're useless, but because we’ve outgrown them in style or size. We wanted to create a platform that makes it easy for people to give clothes a second life, while promoting sustainability, affordability, and community engagement.
What it does
ReWear is a web-based platform where users can:
List clothing items they no longer need.
Browse and redeem clothes listed by others using a point system.
Swap items directly or donate them to the community pool.
Access their personal dashboard to track exchanges and redemptions.
Admins can moderate items, ensuring quality and safety across listings.
It’s a community-first circular clothing exchange, encouraging people to reuse instead of discard.

Challenges we ran into
User authentication setup with Flask-Login and session management took time to configure properly.
Designing a points system that felt fair and scalable.
Ensuring the UI was intuitive and accessible even on low-bandwidth devices.
Handling image uploads and previews (planned but partially implemented).
Time constraints made us prioritize features over polish in some areas.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built a fully functional MVP with authentication, item listing, and swapping system.
Designed a clean, user-friendly UI using Tailwind CSS.
Integrated admin moderation panel to maintain trust and safety.
Created a platform that promotes community-based sustainable fashion — something we deeply care about.
What we learned
Working with Flask Blueprints really helps scale web apps in a modular way.
User flow planning (especially dashboards and transactions) is key to good UX.
Collaborating through GitHub streamlined our workflow — pull requests and branch management were essential.
Small touches like flash messages and form validation enhance the overall experience significantly.
