Inspiration

We were inspired by previous grocery shopping apps such as ShopRite. We wanted to create something similar but easier and more beneficial to use for people such as college students.

What it does

Our mobile app provides a simple and efficient way of grocery shopping. We have pop-ups of discounted items from various stores. It also displays nearest stores based on the user's location and products the users want listed from cheapest to most expensive in a specific store. Our main function is the feedback and reward system in which users can take a short survey from the store that they shopped for that day and in doing so, they will be rewarded points they can use for their next shopping spree in that store.

How we built it

For the app design, we used a software known as Figma to create a prototype of how we would like our app to look and function like. We also coded how our feedback and reward system would function like through Visual Studio Code.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was that for our code we did not have any present data to use for our code making it much harder to code the feedback and reward system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have found a temporary solution for our main challenge listed above. We decided it be the easiest and least time consuming if we us built in codes.

What we learned

We learned the multiple steps it takes to create a mobile app that involves constant interaction between two sources, the grocery store company and the shopper. We also learned about project management, allocation of tasks, and app design.

What's next for RewardShop

For future advancements of RewardShop, we want to make it more user friendly such as adding dark mode options, voice control option, and for those who don't use their phones often, a feedback option people can do through the scanner. We also actually wanted to make a spinning wheel in the app that gives the customers a chance to spin the wheel when they complete the survey. The prizes would be extra points (like x2 points or +100 points) or coupons for some products. Of course, the spinning wheel would activate once they use their store cards or when they are in the store ( which can be found by the exact location system used to show the nearest stores).
