Inspiration
A team member has a friend with ADHD who finds it difficult to stick to tasks and stay motivated. We made it our goal to assist other’s with their goals.
What it does
We built a goal setting app that helps to keep people engaged in the goals they have set out to achieve. We’ve conducted research into methods that people with ADHD can take to help engage more with tasks and brought them to life within an accessible app. We use methods such as gamification with virtual rewards, and attaching drawings to goals to help with engagement. Breakdowns of tasks provides visibility of your goal progression.
How we built it
The pitch video was put together in Premier Pro, the application was designed in figma and built in react native + expo, the virtual pet was designed and animated in blender.
Challenges we ran into
We came into unihack without a team, there were multiple team mate rotations and idea changes before finally figuring out a problem to try and tackle. None of us have really worked in react native previously, so there were a few challenging errors to try and debug.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working goal setting app on Android, iOS and web (expo web) that caters to trying to keep people motivated with their goals. We’re happy with how the pitch, app and virtual pets turned out.
What we learned
We learned about the challenges of ADHD and how people with it experience difficulties when trying to stay focused. We also learned about the 3D modelling tool blender and how to manipulate canvases and 3D objects in react native.
What's next for Reward Yourself
We would like to implement our stretch goals that we didn’t get to achieve. These are bringing the virtual pet to life in augmented reality using echo3D and adding regular targeted progress reports and tips to people through either twilio sms or via push notifications.
We would then like to productionise the app and deploy to Google Play and Apple App Store.
