About the Project
Inspiration: The idea for Revolv came from the observation that many small businesses struggle to grow and scale due to a lack of digital tools and knowledge. We wanted to build an easy-to-use platform that could guide these businesses through the digital transformation process, offering tailored recommendations and tools to help them expand and manage their operations more efficiently.
What We Learned: Building Revolv taught us how crucial it is to understand user needs, especially for non-tech-savvy business owners. We learned how to integrate AI-driven recommendation systems into a web app, and the complexities of connecting businesses with the right talent for the job. We also gained hands-on experience with web development technologies, AI integration, and cloud-based infrastructure.
How We Built It: Revolv is built as a web app using React for the front-end to create a smooth, responsive user interface. The AI recommendation engine was built using Python to provide personalized suggestions for businesses. Challenges We Faced:
- Time Constraints: Due to the time limitations of the hackathon, we couldn’t fully implement all the AI features we envisioned, such as AI-driven website building. Instead, we provided business owners with links to third-party tools to help them create a website.
- AI Recommendation Accuracy: Developing an AI system that could provide accurate, actionable recommendations for a wide variety of businesses was challenging. We had to ensure the recommendations were both practical and relevant for each user.
- User Experience: Designing a web app that could cater to users with little to no digital experience was a key challenge. We focused on creating a clean, simple interface, but ensuring that the AI recommendations were easy to follow was difficult.
Despite these challenges, we are excited about the potential impact of Revolv in helping businesses streamline their operations and scale up using the power of AI.
