RéviZIA — Learning Reinvented by AI for African High Schools
🎯 Inspiration
The idea behind RéviZIA arose from a clear and urgent observation:
In many African countries, students struggle to prepare effectively for exams due to a lack of engaging, personalized tools linked directly to their own lessons.
For example, in Senegal, the success rate at the Baccalauréat remains low.
At the same time, young people spend several hours a day on platforms like WhatsApp.
We wanted to turn this challenge into an opportunity by combining AI, education, and mobile access to help students revise from their own lessons, on platforms they already use, and within an organized school structure.
🛠️ What We Built
RéviZIA is a smart quiz generation platform that allows students to:
- Input their lessons via files (PDF, image with OCR) or voice dictation (speech-to-text),
- Instantly generate personalized quizzes powered by Gemini AI,
- Practice alone or in groups through the web platform or WhatsApp,
- Be ranked in real time by class, school, and nationwide,
- Follow an intelligent and motivating daily training program.
We aim to make learning more enjoyable, immersive, and continuous by integrating several AI-powered modules:
- Automatic lesson summarization
- Podcast generation
- AI-powered educational chat
- Generation of storytelling based on lessons
- Voice-to-voice interaction
- Smart note-taking (personal knowledge base)
- Personalized recommendations: exercises, lessons, areas for improvement
- Quiz export for homework or evaluation purposes
- Full WhatsApp experience management:
- Response tracking
- Access to quiz completion
- Detailed result reports
- Automated coaching
🗂️ Three Complementary and Hierarchical Data Sources
To ensure effective and secure pedagogical management, RéviZIA relies on three distinct content and quiz sources, each with specific roles:
Student’s personal data
Each learner has a personal space where they can store, enrich, and scale their own lessons and quizzes. This base allows personalized revision and progress tracking.Class data, controlled by the teacher
Teachers manage and validate lesson content and quizzes at the class level. They can also export generated quizzes to be used as homework or assessments, with advanced prompting systems to customize quizzes according to pedagogical needs.National data, regulated by the Ministry of Education
A shared, supervised national repository ensures coherence, quality, and accessibility of validated content, facilitating standardization and collaboration among schools.
This architecture balances personalization, local pedagogical control, and national oversight for a robust and scalable platform.
💡 Technologies Used
- Google Sheets as a lightweight database for the prototype
- Streamlit as an intuitive web interface
- n8n as a low-code automation engine
- Gemini (Google AI) for quiz generation and AI functionalities
- OCR and Speech-to-Text for lesson capture
- WhatsApp integration for mobile training
- Planned integration with Google Classroom
📚 What We Learned
- Effectively orchestrating Google tools, low-code platforms, and AI in a concrete use case.
- Balancing automation with human pedagogy.
- Improving prompt engineering to adapt AI output to local school levels.
- Building a structured system at national scale: schools, classes, teachers, students.
🧗 Challenges Faced
- Ensuring quiz quality despite imperfect sources (OCR, voice, photos).
- Building a reliable and motivating ranking system across multiple levels.
- Maintaining a smooth mobile experience, especially via WhatsApp.
- Managing low or intermittent connectivity.
- Anticipating scalability while delivering a rapid hackathon prototype.
🌍 Our Vision
We want to make RéviZIA a national and pan-African edtech tool serving high school students in collaboration with education ministries.
Our mission:
🎯 Help every student revise better, succeed more, and love learning.
With a user-friendly interface, motivational rankings, personalized content, and accessibility via Web and WhatsApp, we aim to transform current digital habits into stepping stones for academic success.
