Inspiration

Firefighters’ mental health is often overlooked despite its critical impact on performance. We aimed to enhance their safety by addressing trauma-induced freeze responses and recovery.

What it does

Revive detects freeze responses in firefighters using biometric sensors in a smartwatch strap and provides ML-powered recovery through a personalized smart pod.

How we built it

We integrated Samsung smartwatch sensors with additional artificial skin-embedded sensors, developed a WearOS app, and trained a personalized ML model for real-time monitoring and recovery.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring materials we choose were durable, comfortable, as well as affordable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developing an efficient firefighter-friendly design, enhancing mental health monitoring, and creating a novel ML-based recovery system were major achievements.

What we learned

We gained insights into firefighter mental health and we researched various scientific studies done to create a ML-driven personalized treatment for trauma recovery.
