Inspiration
I am motivated by the amount of everyday waste that is thrown away because people do not know how it can be reused. I wanted to make reuse easier by letting AI suggest a second life for everyday objects.
What it does
ReVive enables users to display or upload the image of an object. The AI looks at the object and comes up with creative and practical ways to reuse it, instead of throwing it out.
How we built it
ReVive is a web app built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vite and Supabase. It is an AI service that helps analyze images and generate reuse ideas. I focused on simplicity, speed and ease of use of the interface.
Challenges we ran into
One of my biggest challenges was connecting the image input to the AI and getting useful results instead of generic ones. I had to work through deployment and API integration and make the interface work smoothly across devices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud to have taken a simple idea and made it into a working AI-powered app. A few steps take the user from a common object to practical reuse ideas.
What we learned
I learnt to combine different technologies into one complete application, work with AI APIs, deal with actual user input and convert an idea into a working product.
What's next for ReVive
I want to increase the accuracy of object recognition, give more personalized reuse ideas, add recycling and disposal guidance and eventually build a larger community around creative reuse.
