Inspiration

Our inspiration was the problem statement from SGENABLE. It made us think how is our society inaccessible for them and what are some challenges they face when they try to connect with the community.

What it does

This is a web application that allows users to review places that are inaccessible for the disabled. The app provides a platform for individuals to voice their opinions and experiences on the accessibility of different locations, providing information and insights for others with disabilities, as well as for the places themselves to improve their accessibility.

How we built it

This app was built using the following technologies: -React.js -Node.js -Firebase -Google Cloud API (Google Maps API, Google geocode API)

  • Chakra UI

Challenges we ran into

  • First time users for firebase and faced some struggles implementing firebase into the ReviewLAH!
  • First time using Google Cloud API and faced some issue implementing it as well

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We used Google Cloud API for this project and it is all our first time trying and using an API in our project! Not only that, we are proud of producing a proper web app that has all the features we wanted to build at the start in such a short time!

What we learned

  • It is important to plan the web app properly so as to be more efficient. One way is to split the features and have everyone take a different features to work on it
  • How to authenticate, retrieve data and insert data for firebase
  • Teamwork and communication is extremely important when developing as a team!

What's next for ReviewLah!

Next up, we will be implementing more features for ReviewLah!

  • Like feature: able to keep track of the number of likes
  • Sort feature: able to sort the reviews from highest to lowest, so the users can easily see what is deemed as the most inclusive place all users think.
  • My reviews: users are able to see all the reviews they have made and they are able to delete it if they think changes have been made and it is no longer inaccessible for people with disabilities.
