Inspiration

Online learning can present many challenging. Students are overwhelmed with classes and it can be difficult to retain information. Since many individuals are visual learners, it can help to visualize connections between concepts and have them presented in a succint manner. We wanted to create an application that will allow students to learn more efficiently and focus on the key points.

What it does

ReVIEW allows students to upload a file of their lecture notes or textbook and using a summarization algorithm, ReVIEW will extract only the main points and present them in the form of a web, allowing students to clearly distinguish the most important concepts.

How I built it

We initially designed the frontend in Figma and wrote the application in JavaScript. In order to extract the main points from a text article, we used a JavaScript API called js-summarize.

Challenges I ran into

We initially tried to use Bubble.io, but we were unable to figure out how to how to integrate our Python backend with the software. We then tried to convert our Figma to HTML/CSS, but it didn't retain the margins.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

In the end, we were able to complete the application and the summarizer seems to be working.
