Inspiration

Online reviews have become one of the biggest factors influencing customer decisions, yet collecting them is still surprisingly difficult. Customers often intend to leave a review but abandon the process because they need to search for the business on Google or another platform. At the same time, businesses receive reviews but rarely have the time or tools to understand what customers are actually saying.

We wanted to solve both problems with one product: make leaving reviews effortless while transforming customer feedback into actionable insights.

What it does

ReviewGenie helps businesses collect more authentic customer reviews through a unique QR code. Customers simply scan the QR code and are taken directly to the business's review page, removing unnecessary friction from the review process.

Once reviews are collected, AI analyzes the feedback to identify customer sentiment, recurring issues, common compliments, and emerging trends. Business owners can view these insights in a real-time dashboard, helping them understand what customers love and where improvements are needed.

How we built it

The application combines a modern web interface with AI-powered analytics.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a review flow that remained simple for customers while still giving businesses valuable analytics.

Another challenge was converting unstructured review text into useful insights. We focused on extracting meaningful sentiment and recurring themes instead of simply displaying raw reviews.

We also spent considerable time refining the user experience to ensure every step—from generating a QR code to viewing analytics—was intuitive and required minimal effort.

What we learned

This project reinforced that solving a real business problem is more valuable than adding unnecessary features.

We also gained experience integrating AI into a practical workflow, designing user-centered interfaces, and building dashboards that transform raw data into actionable information.

Most importantly, we learned that AI delivers the greatest value when it helps users make better decisions rather than simply automating tasks.
