Inspiration

For this hackathon, we wanted to do something that represented our group as a whole, and we thought, what better way to accomplish that than by making something that everyone would use daily (financial planning) and combining it with the intrinsic female knowledge that makes any app better!

What it does

Our financial planner and advisor app, Prospera, uses Google Gemini to give women free financial advice and educational information about the stock market and how to invest their money efficiently. Our group wanted to create something more female-focused, especially since many apps fail to appeal to women in the market today.

How we built it

We used React + Vite.js for the frontend, and React Router for the backend. We used ElevenLabs for the TTS and Google Gemini for our financial recommendations and some database work.

Challenges we ran into

At first, we tried using the T3 stack before eventually switching to our React + Vite.js stack with 14 hours to go in the hackathon! We had plenty of issues: database initialization not going our way, mismatched node and npm versions, and incorrect type matching to name a few things.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud that we were able to launch a fully functional prototype in such a short amount of time. Prospera can provide real-time, personalized financial advice for women, and the integration of TTS with ElevenLabs makes the experience more accessible and engaging. Additionally, we were able to pivot from the T3 stack to React + Vite.js seamlessly, which was a huge win given the time constraints. Our team also managed to implement Google Gemini for intelligent investment recommendations, something we didn’t initially think would be possible in a 24-hour window.

What we learned

This hackathon taught us a lot about rapid prototyping under pressure. We learned the importance of flexibility in tech choices—sometimes the “best” stack isn’t the one that gets the job done fastest. We also gained hands-on experience with AI integration, text-to-speech technology, and handling user data responsibly. Perhaps most importantly, we learned how valuable teamwork and communication are when navigating last-minute obstacles.

What's next for Prospera

Our vision for Prospera doesn’t stop at the hackathon. Next, we want to refine the UI to make it even more intuitive and visually appealing. We also plan to expand the financial advice offerings to include budgeting, debt management, and personalized investment tracking. Long-term, we hope to introduce community features so users can share tips, success stories, and advice with one another, creating a supportive ecosystem for women to take control of their financial future.
