Inspiration
We were driven by a deeply human experience — the sting of being underestimated. From “You’re not leadership material” to “You’ll never make it,” these statements don’t just hurt — they linger. We set out to reframe those moments, transforming emotional weight into momentum. Our project was born from the desire to give people not just motivation, but a plan — one they could own, follow, and finish. What started as a spark of defiance became a platform for empowerment.
What it does
Our app turns personal setbacks into powerful comebacks.
Users input a real comment someone told them they couldn’t overcome — and our system builds a 30-day glow-up plan in response. Using AI, we analyze the underlying theme (career, confidence, creativity, wellness) and deliver a customized roadmap packed with:
- Micro-habits and intentional actions
- Daily motivational prompts that evolve with tone
- A tone selector (supportive, witty, or savage) to match the user’s vibe
How we built it
We began with a single-shot prompt, tuned for empathy and precision. From there, we layered contextual personalization using GPT-4o. We deployed the MVP on Netlify, assigned it a custom domain (riseclub.site), and gradually added journaling capabilities and a lightweight sign-in system. Each new layer was driven by user testing and emotional realism — how it feels, not just how it functions.
Challenges we ran into
- Personalization: Ensuring every 30-day plan felt deeply specific, not templated
- Prompt tone: Crafting outputs that were emotionally intelligent without being generic
- Tone flexibility: Designing a system that could shift between gentle support and unapologetic sass
- Scope balance: Saying no to extras like gamification and streaks, so we could say yes to real usability
- Emotional safety: Creating affirming outputs without dismissing users’ pain
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built and deployed a working MVP within the hackathon window
- Delivered a product that feels human and empowering — not just “smart”
- Transformed a viral emotion (being doubted) into a tangible, repeatable product experience
- Sparked real conversations about motivation, burnout, and reclaiming your own narrative
What we learned
We learned that emotion is a valid design layer — and AI can carry it if you prompt it with care.
We pushed the boundaries of prompt engineering, tone calibration, and user empathy. Most importantly, we learned that utility and vulnerability don’t have to be opposites. When combined, they become something people actually come back to.
What's next for RiseClub
- Expand habit tracking and introduce streak-based accountability
- Launch a mobile-first experience with offline journaling
- Offer tone personalities (mentor, coach, hype friend, petty queen) for richer customization
- Enable journaling exports and progress timelines
- Build a community feature where users can share glow-up wins, challenges, and milestones
Our goal is to turn doubt into movement — one person, one plan, one comeback at a time.
