Inspiration
Each member of the team felt overwhelmed by planning our class schedules and meeting deadlines. We decided to create an app that would help ease stress and minimize distractions. We wanted an app that would act as a customizable digital planner in the Howdy portal to make the app easily accessible for Aggies.
What it does: Student Productivity Manager
Our project is a productivity app that allows the user to track assignments and create tasks. The app incorporates a timer that tells the user how much time was allocated for each subject. The progress page collects the data from the timer and creates a pie chart/stats illustrating how much time is required. In addition, the progress tab counts the total credit hours of the user's degree plan to encourage students to continue working towards their goals (qualifying for an Aggie Ring). Lastly, we included a study music page that would allow students to set a playlist to minimize the time spent browsing other streaming applications.
How we built it
We used Python, Tkinter, and Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, brainstorming ideas was challenging, but once we agreed on a project we ran into issues with coding and technical difficulties. More specifically: data collection process, data modifications, ensuring that the code was compatible with the UI we created in Figma, and navigating Figma for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managing to merge frontend and backend with little experience and participating at Hackathon as first timers.
What we learned
We gained a better understanding of python and accessing different dictionaries and libraries. We also learned how to design and create a user friendly UI in figma.
What's next for Reveille Reminder
We hope to continue working on the UI, merge the remaining frontend and backends, and include a grade/GPA calculator feature.
