Inspiration

I remember the good old days when you had Winamp, a great music player with an audio visualizer included. Those were simple times. Looking back, I considered that bringing Winamp back to life as an Open Source web project was the best I could bring to this hackathon, to remember those days when music players were a piece of art.

What it does

With Revamp, you can play music files from your computer as long as they have an audio format (MP3, WAV, etc.), play, pause, and stop music with a simple click. The audio visualizers react to the beats of your song! But there's more: If you thought playing your local files was good enough, wait until you find out that you can also listen to some online radio channels. All of this within one single app that you can keep playing in the background while you work, study, or try to relax.

Quick instructions

Click "Add Files" to add a single audio file. Click "Add Folder" to add a folder with multiple audio files. Click on the arrows to move to the previous or next track. Click on "Skins" to change the current player UI skin. Click on the visualizer screen to switch visualizers. Click on "Radio" to listen to the online radio. While listening to the radio, click on "MP3" to make the visualizer react to the music beats.

How we built it

Revamp was built almost entirely through Kiro vibe-coding, thanks to which I was able to create some of the audio visualizers and the interface. All kept inside a single file for simplicity.

Challenges we ran into

The audio visualizers were the biggest challenge of all, since it took a couple of days to get some of them right. For example, the "Chaos Strings" visualizer would not load properly. After several attempts, it started working.

What we learned

Thanks to this project, I was able to dive into the full potential of vibe-coding, not only as a tool, but as a lifestyle. I was able to notice how much your productivity can boost by using the correct tools, within the correct scenario. I learned that vibe coding is not only about giving prompts, but about crafting perfect instructions to achieve what you aim for.

What's next for Revamp

More radio channels! More audio visualizers! And more skins! Revamp will be on its way to be even more Revamped!
