Inspiration

What it does

ReuseD is a campus marketplace where students can buy, sell, or exchange second-hand items. Users can upload used books, lab coats, and electronics with photos and pricing. Other students can browse and contact sellers through in-app chat. All transactions happen safely inside the campus through direct meetup. It helps students save money and reduces waste by promoting reuse.

How we built it

We developed ReuseD using a no-code platform (Base44) to build the app without programming. We designed the interface for listing items, browsing products, and chatting between buyers and sellers. A built-in database stores the item details, user profiles, and chat messages securely. Deployment and hosting were done automatically through the Base44 platform. We tested the app with sample student listings to ensure smooth buying and selling flow.

Challenges we ran into

We faced difficulty in verifying users as real students to ensure a safe marketplace. Adding secure chat and preventing misuse required careful feature planning. Designing a simple and user-friendly UI took multiple revisions. Time limitations made it challenging to include advanced features like QR handover. Testing real-world exchange scenarios on campus was harder than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a working no-code marketplace app that enables students to reuse items and save money. We created a solution that promotes sustainability on campus while being simple and useful for everyone.

What we learned

We learned how to build a functional app using no-code tools and design a smooth marketplace experience. We also understood the importance of sustainability, user trust, and solving real student problems.

What's next for ReuseD

We plan to add student ID verification, QR-based handover, better search filters, and notifications. We aim to launch the app across campus, gather user feedback, and expand to more colleges in the future.
