Inspiration

We wanted to build an application that brought you back in time by showing old shows and in a retro format.

What it does

Functions like a normal television except it only has old shows. Also has a companion mobile app that acts as a remote.

How we built it

Built it with React/React-Native/Firebase

Challenges we ran into

My teammate got very sick the first night and had to leave early in the competition. I carried the torch for him and I. Among the various challenges of navigating a hackathon, one of the most difficult was determining strategies to implement our idea. There were a lot of different tools and approaches we could've used, but the one we chose was what we felt could help us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a simple television that could serve a base for making it better.

What's next for RetroRemote

I'll expand on it by adding more shows that are non-copyrighted. I also hope to work on the remote more and make it compatible with the extension we made.
