PROJECT IDEA & STORY

INSPIRATION

I've run retros as a PM and watched them fail. Teams either skip them or spend an hour in a meeting where half the team zones out. The output is usually a vague list nobody follows up on.

I wanted to build the retro tool I'd actually want to use — something fast, honest, and useful. A tool that turns the messiest part of agile (capturing feedback) into the cleanest part (a clear action plan).

The Problem

Retrospectives are essential but broken. Remote teams either skip them because scheduling a meeting is friction, or they spend an hour in a call where only half the team participates. The loudest voices dominate. Introverts check out. By the end, nobody remembers what was actually discussed. Follow-up becomes "remember that thing we said?" and nothing changes.

The real pain: Every PM and team lead I know dreads running retros because they're inefficient, hard to facilitate asynchronously, and generate action items that get lost in Slack.

The Solution

RetroBoard is a lightweight async retro tool that solves this problem in one focused flow:

  1. Create a board — title + time limit. Share the link.
  2. Team adds cards anonymously — Start / Stop / Continue columns. No sign-up. No meetings.
  3. AI clusters themes — One click. Gemini groups similar feedback, extracts the real themes.
  4. Export action plan — Markdown format, ready to paste into Jira or email to the team. The entire flow takes 5 minutes. No facilitation needed. No social pressure. The output is a clear, shareable action plan — not a list of forgotten ideas.

Why It Works

RetroBoard doesn't try to replace in-person retros. It makes async retros useful which means teams actually run them consistently, capture more honest feedback, and actually follow through on action items because it's all written down.
