Inspiration
Retro style radio
What it does
Takes a YouTube link and streams it and distorts sound based on user input
How we built it
Used ffmpeg for the distortion, custom node API and react
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest difficulties was to overcome the lack of front-end skills the team had.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to fully complete the project including but not limited to: 1. Finishing the Project. 2. Making it look retro. 3. Having a waveform. 4. Creating a CRT monitor effect. 5. Using React as Front-End. 6. Collaborating with each other. 7. Custom node API to download YouTube link, distort sound and stream to react client
What we learned
Front-end and back-end development. Valuable team working skills.
What's next for Retro Radio
If we would develop it further we would add other websites than just YouTube when it comes to getting musical output. We would also implement different types of distortions.
