🚀 Inspiration
Welcome to Emoji Arcade, our love letter to the neon-soaked nights and nostalgic sounds of the classic arcade era. Our core inspiration was twofold: to create the ultimate social hangout where up to 32 friends can gather and compete, and to push Meta's new generative AI tools to their absolute limit. The result is a vibrant, high-energy world with 14 unique, mobile-optimized minigames, each designed to be easy to play, nostalgic, and fun.
🛠️ How We Built It (The GenAI Showcase)
This world is a massive showcase of Meta's GenAI capabilities. Every single visual and audio asset in Emoji Arcade was generated using Meta's AI tools. This includes:
- Mesh Generation: 50+ unique arcade machines
- Texture Generation: Every game texture and environmental detail.
- Audio Generation: The ambient arcade music and all 50+ sound effects.
Our development process was unique. Our creative work was focused on GenAI asset prompting and curation, while our technical work was dedicated to writing the thousands of lines of TypeScript needed to bring 14 distinct games to life. The only part of this world not built by Meta AI is the code itself.
🧠 Challenges & What We Learned
Our biggest challenge was integrating this sheer volume of GenAI assets into a single, performant world optimized for mobile. We learned to be meticulous with our scripting to manage 14 distinct game loops, multiple per-game leaderboards, a full quest system, and integration with Meta's official daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards. Our inspiration to "get used to Meta AI" quickly became a trial-by-fire in asset management and performance budgeting.
🌟 Future Plans
Our future plan is to keep expanding the arcade, using GenAI to add even more minigames and enhancing our social hub. We want Emoji Arcade to be the #1 hangout on mobile.
