Inspiration
We wanted to go beyond static reporting and build a Retail Command Centre that enables business teams to act on live insights — tracking sales, inventory risks, and customer experience in real time.
What it does
The dashboard acts as a one-stop command centre for retail operations. It monitors sales, conversions, inventory, payments, and SLAs — with built-in alerts and metrics that highlight risks or drops instantly. This makes it easy for teams to spot issues and act fast instead of waiting for end-of-day reports.
How we built it
Using sales, inventory, visitor, and transaction data, we created a dashboard with:
- Live sales and channel KPIs
- Inventory risk indicators and SLA compliance
- Conversion funnel from visitors to purchases
- Payment health and customer experience metrics We added alerts, spark lines, and contextual messages to highlight anomalies instantly.
Challenges we ran into
We faced limitations in Tableau Next preview — funnel pivots, embedded alerts, and advanced period comparisons required creative workarounds. Another challenge was designing KPIs that made sense for live daily monitoring rather than long-term trends.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully functional live Retail Command Centre in limited time
- Implemented dynamic metrics and alerting to track real-time drops in visitors, sales, or SLA breaches
- Translated complex business requirements into simple, actionable visuals
What we learned
We explored Tableau Next’s Metrics and Alerts, learning how to design KPIs that are truly action-oriented. We also discovered how to balance today’s live data with historical benchmarks for better decision-making.
What's next for Retail Command Centre Dashboard
Our next steps include deeper integration with alerts, advanced predictive analysis, enhanced personalization and maybe cross channel unification. We see this dashboard evolving into a scalable, enterprise-ready solution.
